The outdoor recreation industry has been said to have brought in $646 billion a year on hiking, camping, fishing and other outdoor activities. However, no one has ever tracked how much money it actually brings in; until now.
As 9 News writer Anna Staver relates in her article: "The Outdoor REC Act, which is also known as the Outdoor Recreation Jobs and Economic Impact Act, unanimously passed the U.S. House of Representatives Monday. The bill basically tells the BEA to quantify how much people spend on outdoor recreation and how many people the industry employs each year."
