News Blip: Hunting Apprenticeships In Maryland
DelmarvaNow Reports On Game Law Stating A Child, Spouse Or Friend New To The Sport Can Now "Try" Hunting With An Inexpensive License
New hunting law in Maryland was passed this year allowing allowing any new hunter to try hunting for one year under the tutelage of a licensed adult hunter 18 or older. Another prerequisite before going hunting, one must register and compete a full hunter safety class. The Maryland DNR has added another 1,664 acres to the Chesapeake Forest Lands for such hunting activities.
DelmarvaNow correspondent Dave Ciekot relays in his article: "The apprentice license is only $10 for Maryland residents, $20 for nonresidents. The various stamps for things like waterfowl, archery deer and muzzleloader deer are still required in addition to the basic apprentice license, but it's a great way to let new folks see what all the fuss about." The bill is attempting to increase the amount of people getting outdoors. Check out the outdoor calendar in Maryland below.
