News Blip: Correlation Between Technology And RV Sales
CNN Money Reports On New Technologies, Such As Smart Phones, Driving The Trend Of Touring The Country And Not Having It Be A Daunting Task
Numbers reportedly have reached 430,000 in sales for the RV category in 2016. According to the RVIA, this is an increase of 15% since year before. The reason why sales have jumped depends on various factors, but likely due to millennials reaching the age where they are able to purchase a motor home comfortably. In addition, technology has helped smooth the process of traveling long distances.
CNN writer Peter Valdes-Dapena relates in his article: "The flood of new technology -- smart phones, 4G data connections and so forth -- has also helped drive the trend. It's made driving around the country for weeks at a time a much less daunting prospect." For example, Airstream has been targeting younger campers with its new Basecamp trailer. It takes the classic shiny aluminum Airstream look and wraps it around a compact trailer with a cool retro-modern interior.
