ESCANABA, Mich. - The changes over the years at recreational vehicle dealership Hilltop RV Superstore has worked out for the best. The business was started by Ken and Theresa Swanson â Steve’s father and mother â in 1972. It began as “Hilltop Camper Mfg.,” and it was originally a manufacturer of truck campers.
Currently, President Steve Swanson elaborates on the changes that enabled the RV superstore to propel forward. According to Daily Press staff, "Hilltop introduced many other products and services to its retail operation, including boat sales, parts and services; firearms; and hunting and fishing accessories." In 1995, the company changed direction once again â it abandoned its other product lines in favor of dealing exclusively with products and services directly related to the RV industry. “We’ve just focused … completely on that,” Steve told The Daily Press. The change ended up paying off. Today, Steve said Hilltop is the fifth- or sixth-largest RV dealer in Michigan.
