Hilton Head Monthly reports that yet another new upscale RV resort is coming to the Bluffton area, strategically placed along the I-95 corridor just north of the SC/GA line. Scratch Golf LLC, owner of the Hilton Head National Golf Club, told the magazine it is moving ahead with plans to build a 339-site RV resort on 92 acres adjacent to the golf course, equipped with full amenities including swimming pools, pickleball and tennis courts, a dog park, snack bar and more. RVs will enter the new park through the current golf course entrance road off the Bluffton Parkway. The new development is allowed based on the “by-right use with conditions” ordinance of Beaufort County’s zoning rules and will not require legislative action, just approval of plans by the county’s planning board, a process currently in the fine-tuning phase.
This is the second large RV project announced for the area in recent months. In September, the Hardeeville City Council approved a request to build a 950-site upscale RV park with two entrances on U.S. 17. That park is scheduled to begin construction early in 2019. Scratch Golf hopes to open the RV sites at the golf club in 2020. Both projects are expected by officials to bring additional tax revenue to Beaufort County as well as increased spending at local recreation, entertainment and dining businesses.
