JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Times Union website reports that Flamingo Lake RV Resort in Jacksonville, FL has completed a major expansion project, adding 60 new, full-hookup sites, located in a 24-hour gated area with paved sites and landscaping. Flamingo Lake Assistant Manager/Marketing Director Ken Loyd told the Times Union that construction on the new camping area began last year, and is intended mainly for full-time residents, although the new sites will be used for overflow camping during busy periods.
“We have special events throughout the year, but we got to the point that we were booked up every week beginning in the spring and had to put potential visitors on a waiting list,” Loyd told the paper. “Our new section has been designed primarily for full-time campers, but we’ll be using any available sites there for overflow on busy event or holiday weekends.” The 66-acre Flamingo Lake Resort is located just off I-295 near the Jacksonville International Airport. The new sites bring the available rentals up to 360 sites for RVers, plus five cabins and two yurts.
