POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. â The Huntington Herald Express reports that Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, in association with local developer, Lance Thornton, chairman of Erie Automotive Aftermarket Holdings, is planning an RV resort that will be the largest campground in the Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia region. Still in the planning stages, the first phase of the $10 million resort would include a 500-site RV campground and large waterpark, situated in a wooded area along US 35 just south of Point Pleasant. The property already is the site of an 11,000-square-foot replica of George Washington’s Mount Vernon mansion. Future plans include an outlet mall, an indoor water park with affiliated hotel, a restaurant and service station, and an amphitheater for outdoor concerts.
Jim Westover, Product Development and Sales Chief for Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, who toured the property this week, believes the resort would attract an average of 2,000 people per day. "This will be the first Jellystone Park camp resort in West Virginia," he told the Herald Express. "I think it will be a huge destination for us."
