The El Governor Motel will be reopening this summer, along with its adjacent RV Park. The El Governor Motel was devastated by Hurricane Michael last year. More than a year later, plans are well underway for the motel to reopen.
Panama City News Herald writer, Jacqueline Bostick, covers in her article, "The annex, which included 18 ground-level rooms and three townhouses allowed guests to have a private-beach experience. In the rebuild, the annex is not returning. “The annex was everybody’s favorite part,” Sloan said, listing two reasons why it won’t return. “We’re not even sure what we can build there because of new codes, and the main reason is money.” However, new amenities will be built, as well as other facilities will be built. A service elevator is being added at the motel, which will also have a pool, gift shop and picnic area. A splash pad for children might be added as well.
