CHESTERFIELD, Va. - The Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA), awarded the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department with its prestigious CAPRA accreditation at the National Recreation and Park Association annual conference in Indianapolis. Chesterfield is the first Parks and Recreation Department in the Richmond region, 11th in the state of Virginia, to earn this accreditation.
According to a press release posted in NACPRO's website: The CAPRA designation signifies Chesterfield Parks and Recreation have met all 151 standards of best practices for efficient and effective operations, while providing enhanced services to the public. The standards represent industry-recognized best practices in parks and recreation, and all segments of the department were evaluated against those standards. Dr. James Worsley, Chesterfield Parks and Recreation Director, was quoted saying: “Not only is it a great accolade, but it also gives us an opportunity to evaluate our services to see what we do well and what we can improve upon.” Earlier this year, three on-site evaluators visited Chesterfield to review the standards before making a final recommendation to the commission.
