The RV Industry Association pursues advocacy for the RV industry on a consistent basis. The annual Advocacy Day – in which our Government Affairs Team organizes association members to visit on Capitol Hill, was hosted by the RVIA with the aim to create a favorable business environment, protect against onerous legislation and make it easier for consumers to buy, drive and own an RV. On June 6, thirteen ARVC representatives joined their coalition partners at RVIA and RVDA on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for RVIA’s Capitol Hill Advocacy Day. ARVC participated in 46 separate meetings with members of Congress and staff to raise awareness of issues affecting the industry.
On Advocacy Day, the RV Industry Association shed a few compelling insights on the RV industry, such as its contributes $50 billion annually to the U.S. economy; the $15.8 billion in wages it produces; and the $5.7 billion in taxes collected. On the subject of tariffs, the Association argues that the scope of the steel and aluminum tariffs enacted to date, is far too broad to have the intended effect and will only create new challenges for American businesses to the benefit of foreign competitors. According to an RVIA press release, the United States is the world's largest producer of RVs, producing twice as many RVs as the rest of the world combined. The RV industry has strong trade relations with Canada and Mexico and depends on a strong trilateral agreement. After the day was complete, according to the ARVC (National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds) website, ARVC representatives joined fellow Advocacy Day attendees, members of Congress and administration officials for an evening reception recognizing the RV Caucus Members, ARVC's RV champions on Capitol Hill.
