Scheduled for the fairgrounds in Dusseldorf, Germany from August 31 – September 8, 2019, the 20th annual Caravan Salon is the world's largest international trade fair for motorhomes and caravans. Some 600 exhibitors will showcase over 2,100 recreational vehicles, featuring cutting-edge technology and the latest developments in caravanning and camping accessories as well as vacation destinations in its 2.3 million square feet of exhibit space. New this year will be the “Caravanning Sports” show in the outdoor area featuring sports activities suitable for “four-wheel” vacationing, with a special display of carrier systems for the transportation of sports gear – from surf boards to motorcycles. A special StarterWorld section will offer tips on caravan vacations to newcomers. The second weekend of the Salon will include TourNatur, a trade fair for hiking and trekking, offering information on hiking destinations and the latest hiking and trekking equipment.
The Caravan Center at the trade fair will host Europe’s biggest RV park during Caravan Salon, providing 3,500 fully serviced and dry pitches (campsites), with between 60,000 and 70,000 overnight stays expected. Visitors to the show will enjoy a variety of entertainment, including an Adventure Park for kids with a climbing wall, the Time-Run and a surf simulator; the Bike Trial show presented by professional biker Danny MacAskill; and a stand operated by German TV channel DMAX where visitors can drive nails into tree trunks, do laps on a Carrera racetrack and indulge in an insect tasting session. In addition, the Dream Tour Cinema will screen multi-vision shows on caravanning destinations that include Mongolia and Central Asia, Pan American countries, Japan, Norway and Russia, as well as an overland adventure to Australia.
Organizers have planned a special route, the 248-mile “Route der Industriekultur,” leading to the fairgrounds that explores the history and industrial culture of the Ruhr Valley. For tickets and more information, visit the Caravan Salon website.
