You love getting out in the woods and hunting. There is nothing better than getting to your cabin and starting a fire, and then going out at first light and looking for that perfect kill. But hunting cabins are actually pretty restrictive and there are some compelling reasons that you should consider trading in your hunting cabin and getting an RV instead.
Advantages & Disadvantages of a Hunting Cabin
There is no denying that a hunting cabin has a few advantages, but the list of them is short compared to the advantages of having an RV for hunting instead. Plus, there are several disadvantages to be aware of. For example, some of them include the fact that you have a lot more room in a hunting cabin. Generally, you will have a common area, kitchen, bathroom and several sleeping areas in a cabin. You may get the same functionality with an RV, but with a lot less space.
In addition, your hunting cabin is going to appreciate in value while your RV will not. In addition, it will probably be easier to get family and friends to come along on a hunting trip when you have a cabin for them to stay in. It may not be everyone’s idea of fun to be living together in a relatively small RV.
On the other hand, you have some disadvantages that come with having a hunting cabin as well. For one thing, your cabin is prone to vandalism and break-ins, including use by strangers while you aren’t there. More than one hunting cabin has become the domain of meth manufacturers during the off season. In addition, you are going to have to pay a lot more for a hunting cabin than for an RV – even if you get a really good RV with plenty of space and all of the latest technologies and amenities. In fact, if you already own a cabin and you sell it to get an RV, you are almost certainly going to have a great deal of money left over.
Why You Should Get an RV for Hunting
Getting an RV will make you a better hunter. That’s because you aren’t tethered to a specific spot, so you have a lot more access to the game you want. When you have a hunting cabin, you only have a certain radius that you can travel in order to hunt – even if spend a night in the woods once in a while. With an RV, you can go check out a terrific hunting ground that you heard about, travel to your favorite woods or even go out of state to hunt.
Plus, you might think that the fact that you have to pay for gas for your RV as a disadvantage, but the truth is, it is offset by the cost of property taxes. So, you will probably pay about the same. In addition, these days a recreational vehicle can be just as comfy as a cabin and even as roomy as some cabins with extensions and oversized compartments. Plus, you’ll have technology at your disposal if you want it.
Finally, a hunting cabin is pretty much just used for hunting. You can go and stay in your hunting cabin for vacation, but there might not be much for your family to do there. On the other hand, an RV can be driven anywhere, so you can take it to Disneyland or to see relatives and stay in the RV while you drive to the vacation spot that you want to visit.
