The Albuquerque Journal reports that the Angel Fire RV Resort is open through the winter and welcoming winter campers. The two-year-old resort is located close to the Angel Fire Ski Resort, an all-season attraction on New Mexico’s Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway and, with 80 runs and seven lifts, one of the state’s top skiing and boarding resorts. An hour-and-a-half north of Santa Fe, the Angel Fire region receives an average of 210 inches of snow every year, and is a favorite winter getaway for Texans.

Rebecca Rapp, manager of the 102-site RV resort, told the Journal that she wants to change the image of winter camping and welcomes both skiers and non-skiers to the 35-acre park equipped with hot tub, luxury bath house, free wifi and other upscale amenities. Campers can take advantage of a shuttle to the ski mountain and the Nordic Center. Rapp has lined up other winter activities as well, such as snowshoeing, tubing, ice-fishing and sleigh rides. Activities at the campground include a full schedule of movie nights, hot tub socials, potlucks, crafts for the kids, and socials around the fire pit. “We will offer a truly unique winter experience for our RV guests,” Rapp said. “One of the great things about New Mexico winters is the abundance of clear blue skies and relative mild temperatures. And the roads getting to the area are well-maintained.”
