Terrible customer service!!!!

We spent 2 nights here 11/18/24-11/20/24 at site #44 and this was our 3rd trip to the campgrounds. We are local to the Tampa area and this is a quick 1 hour drive to get away from the hustle of city life. The customer service of the camp host who lives onsite is HORRENDOUS. We were instructed at the check in trailer to knock on the house door and ask for a screwdriver since the maintenance technician had already gone home for the day; the water hook-up at our site needed repair. The lady answered the door as a tyrant screaming and directing me away from her door, and needless to say did not offer help with the repair. I let it go. The following evening another camper arrived after dark and was having trouble finding her site. This same woman came down the road yelling ?You are blocking the road! You are blocking the road!? She did not offer to help and continued her angry rant. Terrible customer service; imagine if you really needed help after hours and this is your point of contact on site. She needs replaced or therapy!! We will not be back.

Nice campground

This is a very nice little campground. All shaded, the boat launch and kayak rental is nice. Wifi didn't work very well but we have our own. We consider it a luxury since you are camping. When you book and it states tight space, experienced in backing in, is a fact! Don't forget your bug spray!!!

Loved it

I loved this place! Very quiet. The bathrooms were really clean. They cleaned every morning. I loved the boat launch. There?s several springs you can paddle to.

Awesome campground!!

We just took a 10 day trip to Key Largo and stopped for 2 days on way home to Alabama. We stayed at 2 State Parks on trip. This one beat them by far, very clean, nice sites, and I loved the shaded areas so much. I give it a 10 for sure, no complaints here.

Great campground and fabulous kayaking

We spent 5 days at Chassahowitzka River Campground (8/24-28/20) and highly recommend it. The sites were shady, and I noticed the employees spending a good deal of time maintaining the sites - picking up branches, redoing gravel, etc. Summer camping in Florida with the frequent rainstorms can get muddy but the sites had clean gravel which kept the mud away. The bathrooms and showers were immaculate. They were freshly painted and clean every day. We brought our kayaks and the river with its cold water springs was lovely. Really had that old Florida feel. The kayak launch was far enough away from the campgrounds that we drove our kayaks over and paid to park at the ramp. We could have rolled them over on our cart, but it seemed worth it to pay to park. The campground wasn't noisy and while our site wasn't totally private, it didn't feel too crowded. We had Site 51, which was a small corner pull through site which was big enough for our small rpod, its screen room and our truck. It had a nice picnic table and an old fire ring which we didn't use, but would've if it had been fire pit kind of weather. The site also had good water, electric and sewer. The only thing that didn't work well was the wi-fi. It was good enough to pick up some email but I needed to teach a class and I had to switch to using my phone's hotspot. So don't depend on using the WiFi for more than picking up a few emails. Certainly not for streaming movies. The over-air television reception was OK at night; in the daytime, though it was negligible. That, of course, is outside of the campground's control. So all in all, it was a great trip and I would definitely recommend this campground.

quiet time

We had a real good time, brought our own kayaks. The only thing we were disappointed in was their WiFi and internet sucked. None of the passwords worked, so had no TV and no computer with WiFi. Called up to the office and get a voice recording saying leave our number and they will call me right back, today is Tuesday following our weekend there and they still never called me back. I loved being so close to launching our kayaks and enjoying the time on the river, but otherwise was disappointed in the camping adventure.

Amazing Time

At first I was pretty disappointed. We got to our site late Friday night, and the voicemail I received prior to our stay said if we arrived past 5pm we could check in after 10am The next morning. We had a wonderful first night, but when we went to the office at 10, we learned all kayaks were completely reserved for the day. I was so upset! Determined to make the best of it, we reserved kayaks for Sunday and tried to find ways to occupy our time. The downfall here, is if you don?t get a kayak, you get no relief from the heat, there?s nowhere to swim. Luckily, the campgrounds were equipped with horseshoe, basketball hoop, cornhole, and shuffleboard. We ended up having so much fun together. It?s worth mention that the bathhouse was the cleanest I?ve seen, and air conditioned. Now for Sunday... omg. The kayaking was so fun and the paddling was easy. No strong currents here. Beautiful water. Seven Sisters spring was really cool and the underwater caves are magical. We jumped off the rope swing a few times, and the paddled down to Baird creek, and The Crack. When we finally made it to The Crack, it looked like we happened upon a Caribbean oasis. I?ve never seen anything so pristine and breathtaking. All in all, I absolutely love this place. If you just think ahead unlike myself and book the kayaks in advance lol, you won?t be disappointed. Clean and fun campground with friendly and helpful staff (Norman was awesome and took the time to give us pointers and make us feel welcomed) and paradise in a short paddle, this was definitely an amazing weekend to remember

Another GREAT Weekend

We have been visiting this campground for nearly 20 years and it has only improved with time. Easy access to the springs and river with the channel leading out to the Gulf. It's difficult at times to get a reservation, but worth the effort. We will continue to visit this little gem.

We Love This Little Campground

This campground was quiet, people were friendly, bath house was clean and nice, cute little local little store, walking distance to the river with boat ramp where you can rent a kayak for the day. This campground had full hookup, which is a plus. The price was affordable. We liked the campground as it was filled with trees, so it made it feel like you were in the woods. We would highly recommend it.

Great Campground in paradise.

Great Campground

We stayed here for the 4th of July weekend. We found the campground clean with spacious and level sites. Best of all..full hookup! The first two days were packed. It being a holiday weekend that?s was expected. The campers were friendly and respectful. The only negative was that a few campers do not follow the dog leash rules. I had one dog that was tied up too close to the road break free and charge me and my dogs and another large Rottweiler that was not tied up Follow my wife down the road. Thankfully no one was hurt in either situation. As far as the rest of the park it was great. The bathrooms were clean in the morning, but became a little messy as the day went on. The river was gorgeous! Definitely bring a kayak or something or you will regret not doing so. All in all it was a very nice park that we will absolutely enjoy staying at again.

Great natural Florida campground

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. Looks rustic but really nice bathroom / shower facilities (AC!). No swimming on site, but a 3 minute kayak trip gets you to a beautiful spring area (Seven Sisters). We were unable to get any cable channels and only 1 antenna station but we were not there to watch TV. We will definitely go back!

Cool and Comfortable

Rates are reasonable and it was cool and comfortable. A much needed break from the blistering hot days. Make sure to take plenty of mosquito protection, they were horrendous.

Nice Campground.

No complaints had a great spot. We went during the COVID 19 so the bath house and restrooms were closed. It was okay, we have a self contained unit. The campground could have used a little maintenance. The grass needed mowing and the dog area was over grown. River was great. Staff was friendly. We would love to go back again when the restrictions are gone.

Great Campground

Loved our 3 day stay there. Would have stayed longer if we could have. Sites are shaded and spaced out nicely. It is quiet and close to the river. We will be back.

Fantastic!

I have no complaints about anything! The staff was awesome. The spaces are great, pet friendly. River close and rentals reasonable. Love it! We'll be back!

Love the Chaz!!!

I started to stay 3 days, and that quickly turned in to a week. This is my favorite Florida campground EVER!!! I love the staff. They are always friendly, helpful, caring, and fun. Clean bathhouse, pet friendly, community building, and great little store. I'll reserved for next year!

Pleasant Surprise

This wasn?t our first choice for a weekend getaway but the other 2 places we wanted had a 3 night minimum for the winter. We loved it here so much that it has now become our first choice. The staff is very friendly, the bath house is clean and air conditioned and the campers were all quiet and respectful.

Very nice!

Great place to spend a few days! Super nice hosts and our Thanksgiving dinner was an added surprise! The campground roads are much improved from 2 yrs ago; thank you! Even though you had a sign at the shower house stating, please, no pets, women were still bringing dogs in.

Nice campground

Met up with a group of 39 other Travato RV's this past weekend. Enjoyed our stay. Nice staff, pretty riverfront, clean bath house. Especially liked having the community building for our potluck dinner with probably 60 or so people. It was warm inside, which was appreciated since the temps were unseasonably cold. We could play cards, watch tv or just hang out.

Great spot to camp and kayak

We stayed here this weekend and it was our first time. Awesome place for camping so close to the river. Bath house and showers were very clean. We rented a kayak and went swimming in the springs. Awesome time! My only negative comment is that we had some folks move into 2 spot from ours and they were loud so that was a bit annoying and it was past 9pm and they were talking loud.

Great hidden gem

This was a great weekend spot. A little crowded with the holiday weekend. The sites are pretty close together and some of the other campers were a bit rowdy. But overall it was a great experience. Bathrooms were clean , had kayaks available for rent , and it was close to a grocery for those last minute meal plans. Highly recommend having a tent where you can relax as the deer flies and horse flies were horrible , but you can 't control nature !

The Chassahowitzka River Campground was the BEST RV site in west-central Florida. It has very clean sites, friendly staff, easy access to groceries and a great river to play, fish swim and kayak in. We'll be back again!

Our favorite camping spot

The Chassahowitzka River Campground is by far our favorite place to be. It has wonderful shade trees and they don 't pack you in like sardines. The staff is friendly and helpful. The river and springs are gorgeous ! You are very close to a Publix and Walmart which is convenient. I highly recommend this campground !

10/10

We got up to Homosassa on Saturday morning around 8am and visited the RV "Resort" that I had originally booked... This tiny area right off the road that was sold to me as "PRIMITIVE" was just utterly disappointing.... Directly across from the bathhouse, jammed between two HUGE RVs, and surrounded by screaming-for-no-reason kids. They also refused to let us check in until noon, (though the spot we had reserved was empty when we drove around) but this was a blessing in disguise. We decided to take the time before this so-called "check-in" to see if there was anything a little better before we settled, and we arrived in camping paradise. Immediately upon arrival and seeing that gorgeous sparkling lake we felt at home and the trip took a turn for the ideal. The office staff was very friendly and told us they were unfortunately booked.. there was one spot that could accommodate our large tent and said we could drive by and if it was empty... it was ours! So I know this is a super long review but words can't even express how grateful we are that we found this perfect little camping oasis to call home for the weekend. Had an absolutely MAGICAL time and will 1000% be back.

Nice older park

The people in the office were friendly and check in was smooth. Small store but OK. Beautiful river. The campground itself is older but fairly well maintained. Bumpy streets could use a little help. Hookups were convenient. I don't like to write negative reviews but my only complaint would be some of the campers. Long term snowbirds. Many left porch and other lights on all night. Also, we have a pet and we keep him leashed and pick up after him. Many of these people just let their dogs roam and did not clean up when needed.
