The holiday season is finally here, and for us that means finding every excuse to squeeze some special celebration into each day. Obviously this applies even when we go camping. Luckily, there are lots of fun ways to add some joy to any camping trip.
Many campers enjoy sipping hot cocoa around the fire, while others like snuggling up to watch holiday movies in their RV bed. However, by far the best way to celebrate the season while out camping is by enjoying some extra special s’mores.
Sure, s’mores can—and should—be enjoyed year-round, but by putting some tasty holiday twists on this traditional camping treat, you can make them super festive and even more fun to eat. Below we’ve compiled a list of our favorite ways to infuse every s’more you enjoy with the spirit of the season.
Peppermint S’mores
No holiday season would be complete without a heaping helping of peppermint. Why not get a bit of your yearly dose of this favorite flavor in s’more form? The combination of peppermint, chocolate, and marshmallow is absolutely wonderful and certainly does fill you with joy.
To make a peppermint s’more, you’ll need two chocolate graham cracker squares, a piece of peppermint bark, and a couple of roasted peppermint marshmallows. Put the peppermint bark on one of the graham crackers, roast your marshmallows, put them on top of the bark, and finish with the second graham cracker.
One bite of this amazing concoction is never enough, so be sure you have plenty of extra ingredients for making seconds, and maybe even thirds.

Cinnamon S’mores
Cinnamon is a fabulous flavor that just screams winter. It’s great on toast and in oatmeal, but is even more wonderful when combined with s’mores. In fact, we’d say cinnamon s’mores are just about the best use of cinnamon we’ve ever come across.
Making this version of a s’more is super simple. Start with a cinnamon graham cracker, add milk chocolate and some Hershey’s cinnamon chips, put a roasted marshmallow on top, and finish with a second cinnamon graham cracker.
This awesome twist on s’mores is roasty, toasty, and perfect for enjoying around a holiday campfire.
Gingerbread S’mores
If you’ve never made gingerbread cookies for the holidays, you’ve been missing out. Seriously, gingerbread is an amazing holiday tradition that should never go away. However, for those who think gingerbread couldn’t get any better, we’ve got news! If you combine your gingerbread cookies with the makings of a s’more, you’ll end up with an irresistible treat that you’ll want to recreate regularly.
Create a gingerbread s’more by placing your usual milk chocolate and toasted marshmallows in between two gingerbread cookies. We’re willing to bet you’ll fall in love, and wouldn’t even be surprised if gingerbread s’mores become your new holiday tradition.
Eggnog S’mores
Some people love it, others hate it, and those who love it will be quick to tell you that eggnog is a necessary part of every holiday season. This distinctive flavor certainly does tend to fill hearts with Christmas cheer, and we are pretty certain it’s impossible to feel grumpy when the room is filled with the smell of warm eggnog. These facts led us to wonder: What happens when the eggnog is combined with s’mores?
Now, the creation of an eggnog s’more does require a bit more dedication. That said, if you’re an eggnog lover, the end result is well worth the extra effort.
To begin, you’ll need to whip up a batch of homemade eggnog marshmallows. These are delicious on their own, and you could probably eat them on their own and be perfectly happy. However, by roasting an eggnog marshmallow, adding it to a honey graham cracker with a square of white chocolate, dusting it all with nutmeg, and topping it with a second cracker, you can create a sandwich fit for royalty.
Pumpkin S’mores
Perhaps the most popular holiday flavor out there, and easily the most popular, pumpkin spice is a delicious addition to any cool crisp day and a lovely way to usher in the holidays. If pumpkin spice is more your style and pumpkin pie is at the top of your list of favorite holiday foods, you simply must try a pumpkin s’more.
Like the eggnog s’mores above, pumpkin smores also begin with a honey graham cracker. Spread a bit of canned pumpkin pie filling onto the cracker, add a square of your favorite chocolate, and top with a hot marshmallow. Add a graham cracker to the top, squash it all together, and enjoy this yummy pumpkin pie substitute that is beyond easy to make.
Sugar Cookie S’mores
For some people, Christmas cookie making involves rolling out sugar cookie dough in place of the aforementioned gingerbread option. If sugar cookies are your jam, perhaps you’d like to try a sugar cookie s’more recipe on your next camping trip.
You can make this s’more treat by using a couple of Christmas sugar cookies in place of the graham crackers. Using red and green marshmallows in place of the usual white ones adds an extra special festive twist that kids will adore, and giving little ones the option of Christmas sprinkles in their sandwich adds another layer of fun.
Don’t want to make cookies? Store-bought sugar cookies or the break-and-bake cookies work just as well.

Cranberry White Chocolate S’mores
Cranberry sauce is a must-have on every holiday table, and we love it. However, we think it’s a shame that this delicious stuff doesn’t get used in more creative ways. Therefore, we decided to take matters into our own hands, and the cranberry white chocolate s’more was born.
To make your own, just spread some cranberry sauce onto a honey graham cracker, add a bit of white chocolate and a roasted marshmallow, and top the whole thing with another honey graham cracker. This is a delicious dessert for anyone who loves cranberry, and definitely takes this classic camping treat to the next level.
Now that you have an entire list of amazing holiday s'mores to try, it’s time to hit the road on that awesome cold-weather camping trip you’ve been daydreaming about. Just imagine all the snuggly fires you’ll have and the memories you’ll make. Happy camping!
