We just finished up our stay in Red Lodge, Montana, and then headed down to Cody, Wyoming. Both small towns are a must if you are in their area!
If you are going to Red Lodge, Montana you must stay at the Red Lodge KOA just outside of town. Ken & Susan are new owners, 2 seasons now, and they have really updated, and improved a lot around the place. They take care of everyone, from the Cabins, to the Tent’s, and the largest RV’s, and their Staff are the best!
The Town itself is a step back in time to a simpler time, and you will love ALL the mom & pop Businesses, NO Micky D’s here! We went downtown one evening for a meal in town, and right down the main street is a Wagon pulled by Horses, and the rides are free, sponsored by several of the family owned businesses!
Our arrival into Cody, Wyoming was more western, and you all know I love a Western!! We have already made arraignments to go to the Cowboy Dinner Show, and then off to the Rodeo that runs every night during the peak season, June-August. I’ll report back on that in another blog a couple of weeks from now.
The place to stay here in Cody, Wyoming for full hook-ups is the Ponderosa Campground, and get ready to be treated like Family! The Richardson’s’ have owned and operated this lovely campground since the 80’s, and they help you with everything, reservations to the shows, and directions to wherever you want to go, of course we rely on our site map they give us, to hit all the best places listed in there. Even though they are considered “in town”, the very 1st day we were here we were greeted by 2 does, and a fawn walking around the campground! For the “next to the Lake” feel, and less or no hook-ups, try Buffalo Bill State Park, just outside the city, beyond the Dam (another great place to visit!). The Rangers and volunteers are always ready to assist you.
Can you tell we are having a great time? We Love our Lifestyle!!
Happy Trails,
Lynn & Denise Boon
