Loved loved loved staying here! Great sites, amazing staff, awesome camp store, super clean bathrooms. About 5 minutes outside of Millinocket and only about 25 minutes from Baxter State Park's Togue Pond Gate, it's such a perfect location to stay. I really can't say enough good things about this place and am excited to return for my next trip to Baxter! The owners are so lovely and they make you feel right at home!
Spent 5 nights here last week and was impressed by the privacy of the site we were in for an RV! Water pressure was the best I've ever had! Had to reduce it off their reducer! The dump station was very clean and modern and was able to dump gray water daily no problem. Some campgrounds are weird about that. Very friendly staff who helped us find a hidden gem of a beach way off the beaten path! Highly recommend this campground so close to God's country wilderness like the name says!
Enjoyed our stay! Owner Vicki is very accommodating! Sites are wooded, shady, and well maintained. Hope to visit again!
We stayed for three weeks this past August and every day was wonderful. The owners are very personable and helpful, the sites are nicely separated with trees in between giving you a sense of priv......
I only gave this campground four stars because it isn't one of the campgrounds with mini golf, full hook ups, and etc. The name says it all, "Wilderness". There is space between campsites with trees and privacy and it is a quiet campground. The people are very friendly and helpful. Kids will really enjoy the playground and pool. It is also very pet friendly. The bathrooms and laundry were very clean and well taken care of. We will definitely stay here again.
the best site i have stayed at in Maine friendly, clean, great staff. moose excursions, atv excursions, both were terrific i will return next year. mt Katahdin and baxter state park close by.
Hidden gem just 15 minutes from Baxter Park! My husband and I stayed for the 4th of July weekend and we're so glad we did. Marcel and his crew couldn't have been nicer. They delivered wood to our campsite, and provided fireworks around the fire pit on July 4th. That was an unexpected treat. Restrooms are immaculate and sites are well spaced. The campground is only 15 minutes away from Baxter Park, and very close to downtown Millinocket if you need to restock groceries and supplies. We'll definitely be back!
I enjoyed my stay at this campground. The owners and personnel were all very kind. It felt very welcoming, as if coming home. When I arrived the 1st night they were very gracious and brought chopped wood directly to my camp site so I didnt have to carry it. The facilities were kept very clean and it even had a laundry room to wash your clothes. They provided fireworks on the 4th for all of the campers on their grounds (which was amazing) and were very attentive to all. I like that the campground isnt far from town OR Baxter State Park, which makes it an ideal location. I had a wonderful time there, and I will gladly go here again!
Great location and just the right amenities. Everything was clean especially the bathhouse. Didn't need to use it but laundry machines are available as well. Called to inquire about a site and minutes later check in was quick and easy. Would definitely stay at Wilderness Edge again.
Just returned from a week camping here and enjoyed our vacation. This campground is very well maintained and super clean. The owners are so helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Our pop up tent needed an extension cord because of the electrical post location and the owner let us borrow one. Just FYI- the sites from 2-8 may require you have an extension cord. However, if you don?t have one, the owner is very accommodating. The bathhouse is exceptionally clean! The feel of the campground is like tent camping because of the forest. The noise level is super low! Location is also perfect only about 16 miles to Baxter State Park.
My husband and I recently stayed here for 4 nights. We have a 32 foot RV and pull a car on a tow dolly. We stayed on site 22, which was a pull through, but we got confused on where to drive to acutally "pull through," so we wound up dropping the car off and then backed in with tow dolly still hooked up (no big deal). The site was a good size and had great trees for shade and privacy. The bathrooms were super clean; laundry area great too. The location was perfect for drive to entrance to Baxter State park and close to town of Millenocket as well. The owner was nice and very helpful; he dropped off firewood at our site, gave advise on hiking trails in Baxer and made sure campground was safe by riding around periodically. We would definitely recommend Wilderness Edge, and would stay here again when life brings up back to this area. Pat and Frank from North Carolina
We stayed here for 5 nights while we explored Baxter State Park and the area. The campground roads were a little rough, but we went slow. We had site ! which was a pull-through site on the top of a small hill. The site was spacious. The owner was very accommodating when we said that we thought we might have trouble getting out of our site due to the trees. He offered to trim them back for us. He also lent us his battery charger and came to repair our picnic table immediately when we mentioned that one of the boards was broken. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and there was plenty of hot water. Some of the sites at the top of the hill are a little tight and confusing to get into, but people seem to make them work. The owners and the people in town are very friendly and helpful. We got a recommendation from one of the locals for pizza and ate at the Schootic In Restaurant. Very good. They have a portable pump out wagon but we never had to use it. The pool was nice and clean. We would definitely stay here again in our 30 ft. travel trailer. It was easy to find right off the main highway out of Millinocket on the way to Baxter State Park and although it was close to the highway it was very quiet. Loved the area.
This campground is in a perfect location to be in the wilderness of Maine and named aptly. We were in a 35 foot coach pulling a toad and had plenty of room to get to our site. There was 30 amp and water at the site, and being there for a week, we used the camp showers to avoid having to move and dump. They were clean with hot water and lots of pressure. Although there was no sewer on the campsite, I did see a portable tank but did not ask about its use. We had a pull along site facing the woods. The site was level and very private and large. There was a picnic table and fire ring. The staff there was helpful and cheerful answering all our touristy questions. The campground road is not paved and somewhat rough, but we took it slow. There was plenty of clearance to not rub trees in the area we were at. Kudos to Wilderness Edge for giving us a great place to stay to build memories.
We stayed in site 10 which was very private. My husband, our 29 year old daughter (who still likes to go camping with us) and myself plus 2 dogs. We have a 30? toy hauler which the ramp angle was very good for me since I am in a wheelchair. I have a scooter also and was able to go on the roads around the campground which was very nice to do. We won one of the nights from the RV show that they were at in Auburn. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Everything is well kept there. The owners or their help seemed to be checking on the grounds often. My daughter and I we out seeing the campground and the owner stopped to see if we needed anything and to please get in touch with them and they would be right there if we did. It?s close to Baxter State Park. My husband and our daughter went and saw the ?ghost trains? one day and the next day went to the Lumbermens Museum in Patten. I would highly recommend this great campground.
Absolutely LOVED this campground! We stayed there 2 nights while visiting Baxter State Park and Katahdin Woods and Waters NM. Very convenient location - D22 was an excellent site for our 26' MH. The bathrooms and laundry were spotless and in good order. A very nice gentleman directed us to our spot, helped us with dumping our rig, and delivered our wood. Beautiful location! Definitely going back this summer.
Just stayed here for four days. Very quiet campground, nice sites and loved the showers. Would recommend staying here.
I stayed in this lovely campground the first week it was open. The owner and his crew were busily getting the campground up and running. Really pretty place. Clean and quiet. Great location and close to town yet very secluded. Very friendly. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because the bathrooms and laundry room are in need of a serious upgrade. Loved my stay though! Wish I could go back.
