Popular Idaho campground Kings Point has been reopened after being closed mid-July for renovations this past summer and there are plans to upgrade other sites in the area. Kings Point campground, which is located about two hours north of Boise, now boasts regraded campsites, new asphalt pads for recreational vehicles, new compacted sand tent pads with fire rings and regraded and blacktopped boat ramps and fishing areas, according to Scott Gill, a member of the Y Camp advisory board.
Idaho Statesman writer Nicole Blanchard relays what Gill had to say on the project: "Construction on Kings Point cost about $725,000, Gill said, the bulk of which came from grants for improving RV camping opportunities. Additional funds came from the $15 usage fee implemented at Horsethief Reservoir in 2017. Kings Point is the only one of six at Horsethief reservoir in Cascade, ID that is open year-round.
