Curbed Reports On At-Risk Landscapes Throughout The Country Where Some Type Of Regulation Or Proposal Is Threatening The Natural Lands
According to the "Landslide" report by The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF), several landscapes around the Unites States are being threatened by building plans, city ordinances or some other form of regulation. President and CEO Charles A. Birnbaum of TCLF says, "Open space is too often treated as a void, absent any cultural significance and waiting to be filled." Perhaps just leaving land as is or simply maintaining its health is the best option for the people living nearby and the environment.
Curbed writer Barbara Eldredge adds in her article: "One of the sites highlighted is Coyote Valley, California, a 7,400-acre swath of farmland and the largest area of undeveloped space above Silicon Valley’s groundwater aquifer. Its wildlife corridor is threatened by development plans." A few other sites on the list include Battery Park City in New York City, Boston Common in MA, and Fort Negley Park in Nashville, TN.
