FOREST CITY, Iowa – KIMT’s website reports that the new Hanson Family Fine Arts Center at Waldorf University in Forest City has received a large grant from the Winnebago Industries Foundation. The new $12-million facility, due to open in late 2018, will provide modern facilities for college, school and local theater and musical groups, as well as regional and national touring performances, in addition to space for art exhibitions, lectures, a banquet hall and catering kitchen. The public space in front of the arts center will be named Winnebago Plaza in recognition of the donation.
The Winnebago Industries motorhome manufacturing plant, the largest in the world, is located in on 60 acres in Forest City. Free tours of the factory, offered Monday - Friday, April to October, are one of the area’s major attractions. “The Hanson Family Fine Arts Center is a tangible testament to what can be accomplished when a community comes together,” Waldorf University President and Hanson Family Fine Arts Center board member Robert Alsop told KIMT. “As a fixture in our community, it is appropriate that Winnebago is prominently featured in the landscape of this facility.”
