UT Students & Staff Join Countless Others In Reverence of Arbor Day

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Office of Sustainability at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville will celebrate the last Earth Month 2018 event with Facilities Services during a ceremonial tree planting for National Arbor Day - today April 27, 2018. As many organizations and environmentalists from around the country will do today the University gathers those interested to plant several trees for the earth. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the event that will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, April 27, at the Engineering Quad.
UT Arborist Sam Adams will be joined by the Tennessee Division of Forestry, and Dave Irvin, associate vice chancellor of Facilities Services, to discuss the importance of trees on our campus and to announce a new development for the UT tree campus project. The Arboricultural Services sub-unit of Facilities Services was formed in 2015 to provide tree care and maintenance services to the entire UT campus. The most recognized organization for Arbor Day is the Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit conservation and education organization with over a million members, donors and partners. If you thought recently that you'd like to plant one or several trees of your own, when you become a member of the Arbor Day Foundation you receive 10 free trees as well as tree nursery discounts.
