Crescent City recreation director unveiled plans Dec. 2 to evolve Shoreline RV Campground into a resort, starting with changing its name to Lighthouse Shores. Shoreline RV Campground, one of three RV parks in Crescent City, is owned by the city and public officials have decided a strategy to make it stand out. Holly Wendt, the city’s recreation director, said in an article by Del Norte Triplicate writer David Hayes: “At first, when I came, on it didn’t seem that big a concern,” Wendt told Crescent City Council members about the local park’s name. “But in researching RV parks, we found there’s a Shoreline RV Park 80 miles away in Humboldt County. Crescent City received a state land grant in 1963 and acquired various tidelands and submerged lands, including the property where Shoreline RV Park currently sits just south where U.S. Highway 101 merges back into two-way lanes. Her first priorities were to address was the park’s reputation with visitors and improving the site’s amenities. Crescent City Mayor Blake Inscore, meanwhile, looked at the big picture, saying Shoreline RV Park was able to generate enough revenue to repay a $200,000 loan from the city’s general fund.
