Parent travels with autistic child and explains how the make due and found a resort that accommodates families with children on the spectrum. Beaches Resorts has an Advanced Certified Autism Center (ACAC), a designation given by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), meaning they have staff training and special accommodations in place to help families traveling with a child on the spectrum.The wife stated in an article by Ronnie Koenig on NBC News, "Since my husband had to work, I nervously boarded a plane by myself with the twins, ready to meet my sister and her two girls on Turks & Caicos for some family fun. The couple met a licensed mental health counselor that specializes with helping parents who have children with autism, named Janeen Herskovitz. Herskovitz told the parent that she thinks it’s great that places like Beaches are adopting an autism-friendly attitude. While she worried E's, her daughter, autism would be catered to in a way that she does not do at home being at an ACAC, just the opposite was true â the resort was a truly inclusive place â a vacation spot that has the needs of kids in mind whether they are special needs or not.
