News Blip: Outdoor Sales On The Up And Up
ISPO.com Reports On Growth Of Outdoor Sector In Europe As It's Projected To Perform Exceptionally Well In 2017
On the contrary to worries about budgetary spending for outdoor recreation in the U.S., Europe has promising figures that show the outdoor sector is thriving. John Jansen, President of the European Outdoor Group, reports that there is major growth for the industry. In particular, sales in clothing, tents, backpacks, climbing gear and other outdoor accessories have increased since last year. This is positive news for outdoor companies in Europe.
ISPO.com editor-in-chief Gunnar Jans relates in his article: "In the 2016 Summary and the satisfaction of the surveyed brands, 33 percent say that things went “much better” for their companies in 2016 than expected." The most signifcant areas in Europe regarind the economic whole is Germany, Austria and Switaerland. Together with the UK (3.1 percent increase), the DACH region (consisting of the three countries above) generated 55 percent of the total sales of the European Outdoor Group in 2016. For 2017, projected growth is even higher than that of 2016.
