Newest Glamping Option: Conestoga Wagons
Editor's Note: This news item was retrieved and first published through Lawrence Journal-World's website.
LJ World, a news outlet in Lawrence, Kansas, reports that a local couple is building covered wagons intended for use in the glamping market. PlainsCraft Conestoga Wagons, founded by Dennis and Donna Steinman, constructs 26-by-10-foot canvas-covered wagons, large enough to hold a king- or queen-sized bed, a bunk bed, and a glass-topped wagon wheel table. The wagons have electrical outlets, and solutions are in the works to heat and cool the units.
Dennis Steinman calls the wagons the Winnebago of covered wagons and envisions them at wineries, dude ranches, hunting preserves and other outdoor settings. While they can be pulled by horses, they are intended to be parked and tied down. The first two wagons off the production line are headed for a ranch in Oklahoma where they’ll be used as guest accommodations.
