New Mexico Company Produces World’s Lightest Teardrop Trailer

Gearpatrol reports that Santa Fe startup Earth Traveler has designed a teardrop trailer that is featherweight - literally. Composed of fiberglass and resin-reinforced chicken feathers, the company’s T-300 model weighs in at under 300 pounds making it towable by almost any car. In fact, the company’s founder set out to make a trailer he could tow with his Fiat 500.
On the road, the T-300 (and its even lighter but more expensive T-250 carbon fiber brother) folds down to 5 feet tall, 5 feet wide, and 11 feet long. Once at the campsite, mosquito netted pop-out side walls and pop-up roof, plus left and right side awnings, expand the trailer’s footprint to 11 feet wide and 7 feet tall. The design includes a kitchen station, and optional solar panels and off-roading suspension. Although still a prototype, the T-300 is available for pre-order for around $10,000.
