Bowlus Road Chief, a brand established back in the 1930s by storied engineer and aircraft builder Hawley Bowlus, best known for his work on Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, continues its 21st century renaissance with the release of the On The Road 26â² Edition, the company’s longest travel trailer to date. Targeted to appeal to families, full-timers and those seeking work/live floorplans, the interior features a bath with a huge shower, bedroom with his and hers closets and a modern galley and dining area, all decorated in Heart of the Canyons colors.
Road Chief models, each built by hand in Oxford, CA, retain the light weight and shiny, aerodynamic aluminum shell studded with rivets as originally designed by Hawley Bowlus back in the 1930s. However, CEO Geneva Long, who rebooted the dormant brand back in 2012, has equipped the new models with cellular boosters, mobile routers, and enough battery power to stay off-grid and on-line for up to a week at a time while still operating the A/C and microwave. The new aluminum 26-foot On The Road camper will be available in November of this year.
