The Florida Times-Union reports that a portion of the upcoming Jacksonville RV MegaShow ticket sales to benefit Hoods For Heroes - an Orange Park-based organization that is raising money to provide more protective hood gear for firefighters. Members of the Florida RV Trade Association [FRVTA] in Northeast Florida voted to donate $1 for each ticket sold at the upcoming Jacksonville RV MegaShow to the nonprofit group. The donation would be capped at $10,000 for Hoods For Heroes.
According to a press release on The Florida Times-Union - Jacksonville, "The FRVTA’s financial commitment represents the first time the group has diverted a portion of its show admission to a nonprofit cause." Last year, the RV MegaShow broke the 10,000 guest attendance record. Hoods For Heroes co-founders Jeff Rountree and Bill Hamilton founded the cause a few years ago and established a nonprofit agency in July of this year to raise funds to purchase the hoods for firefighters. Ken Loyd, board president of the Florida RV Trade Association’s Northeast Florida Region, said area dealers wanted to move quickly to take advantage of the upcoming 2019 RV MegaShow, scheduled for Feb. 7 - Feb. 11, at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, to support Hoods For Heroes. More than 300 new RVs of all types, including motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth-wheels and tent campers, will be on display during the 2019 RV MegaShow, from dealers such as Campers Inn (Jacksonville), Camping World RV Sales (Jacksonville), Creative RV (Jacksonville) Dick Gore’s RV World (Jacksonville), General RV Center (Orange Park) and Ocean Grove RV Supercenter (St. Augustine).
