Fire-Impacted State Parks Reopen In California

SACRAMENTO, Calif.â Several California state parks impacted by the Hill, Woolsey and Camp fires have partially reopened, although some areas remain closed due to fire damage. In Southern California, the Malibu Lagoon and Robert H. Meyers Memorial state beaches and Topanga State Park have reopened, as well as Countyline Beach and Staircase in Leo Carrillo State Park. At Point Mugu State Park, Mugu Beach, the Thornhill Broome Campground, La Jolla Canyon Group Camp, and most backcountry roads and trails are open. At Point Dume State Beach, however, the beach and nature preserve both remain closed.
In northern California, day-use areas and facilities at Lake Oroville State Recreation Area, including the North and South Forebay day-use areas, aquatic center and visitor center, are now open. Big Pine and Gold Flat Campgrounds in Bidwell Canyon, as well as campgrounds at Lime Saddle and Loafer Creek, remain closed. Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park and Clay Pit State Vehicular Recreation Area, and tours of Bidwell Mansion resumed Dec. 1.
