Volunteer Hosts Wanted For Five Buffalo National River Campgrounds
Editor's Note: This news item was retrieved and first published through Harrison Daily Times' website.
Harrison Daily Times reports that Buffalo National River is seeking volunteer campground hosts at Steel Creek, Kyles Landing, Ozark, Tyler Bend and Buffalo Point campgrounds, all National Park Service (NPS) operated parks. Campground hosts traditionally live on-site in their RV or camper & serve for at least 90 days during camping season. Campground hosts assist NPS personnel in welcoming visitors, providing park information, ensuring camper registration and payment of fees, promoting the use of Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics, maintaining campground facilities and reporting issues that require immediate attention.
Jeff and Bonnie Little (shown in image) have been Buffalo Point Campground hosts from 2017-2018, reports Harrison Daily Times staff writer. Buffalo Point Campground is the largest campground in the park, with 83 drive-in sites, 21 walk-in sites, and five group sites. Buffalo Point offers the most visitor services and amenities of any campground, including electric and water hookups, shower houses, a picnic area, multiple pavilions, a swimming beach, and consistent summer programming. Not a bad environment to work one's day through!
The application period will remain open until these positions are filled for 2019. Volunteers interested can apply online here.
