LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KSNV) - Death Valley National Park announced recently that it opened its Sunset campground on Tuesday, Oct.15, as temperatures cool down.
Ten of the park’s 12 campgrounds are now open, with only Texas Springs and Stovepipe Wells closed due to the lack of seasonal National Park Service employees to keep them maintained. The NPS says that these campgrounds will likely reopen in November.
Many of these campgrounds are free, while Mesquite Spring, Stovepipe Wells, Texas Springs, Sunset and Furnace Creek campgrounds range from $14 to $22 per night. Reservations at Furnace Creek ca be made four days to six months in advance here, while all other campgrounds are first-come-first-served.
