Idaho Statesman Reports On The Whitewater Park In Boise That Has Been Gaining Popularity With Surfers

The Whitewater Park in Boise has been under seeing some changes lately. The park, that was primarily funded by kayakers, is now being populated with surfers instead. This is a great conflict to have, however, this sparks up debate over what should be done with the parks future, and who needs to have a say in it.
As the Idaho Statesman writer Joe Carberry relates in the article: “It’s weird, in a town like Boise, where there’s a lot of talented paddlers, a lot of those guys would rather go to the Payette and run the North Fork or run a river in a longer river-running playboat, instead of go to the playpark (in a short boat),” said Mark Cecchini-Beaver, a local whitewater kayaker who also surfs. “There’s no good answer. The feature is in some way deterring them.”
