Herald Net Reports On Jim Freeman, Who Turned A Caboose Into His Private Home When He Moved To Whidbey Island
Some people in the population are fascinated by nostalgia. For one man, trains have become of a particular fascination. Jim Freeman took an old train caboose and made it into his own private sanctuary, not unlike a motorhome.
As Herald Net writer Andrea Brown relates in her article: "He moved to Whidbey 33 years ago, and a year later settled into the caboose that’s 10 feet wide and 36 feet long. “It’s probably like living in a motorhome,” he said. The 1928 Milwaukee Road railroad car was moved to the island by ferry from Kirkland in 1979."
