AL.com reports that developer Ed Bridgman plans to develop a high-end RV community near Fowl River, Alabama, which could house as many as 1,000 new residents. Bridgman describes the development, southwest of Mobile, as “the subdivision of the future” based on changing trends in how and where people are choosing to live, designed for long-term residents, working professionals, and high-tech workers needed in the booming Mobile market. "We're building a community for people who'll work at Airbus, at Amazon, at Walmart," he said, referring to recent major industrial developments in the Mobile area. "We're building a community for people who will build the new bridge over the Bay."
The amenities at Bridgman’s Homestead RV Community will include features designed for more permanent residents, including oversized sites with room for flower beds or gardens, room for two cars at each site in addition to the RV itself, as well as high speed internet access. Other planned features in the gated community include a stocked fishing pond, walking trail, dog washing and fish cleaning stations, community herb garden and laundry, all in a friendly neighborhood environment. Phase II will add a hurricane shelter.
Bridgman says his plans for Homestead RV Community are well along through the permitting and planning phase, and expects to break ground in late 2019, with Phase 1, with 59 rented lots, opening in the third quarter of 2020, with a total 250 lots within three or four years.
