The Charlotte Agenda reports that Emberglow Outdoor Resort is underway in the Lake Lure region, about 90 minutes west of Charlotte and 30 miles east of Asheville. The resort will offer a variety of camping and glamping options with two tiny houses, seven vintage campers, four luxury yurts, one geodesic dome, six tree houses and 40 tent and RV sites on site. Amenities will include a 2,000-square-foot lagoon-style pool, free wifi, three miles of biking and hiking trails, fire pits, a dog park, playgrounds and activities such as morning yoga. Lake Lure, about 10 minutes from the resort, offers a public beach and water park, hiking in Chimney Rock State Park, and numerous restaurants, golf courses and other attractions.
Emberglow’s developer, Tim Murphy, was formerly in charge of opening new ReStores for Habitat For Humanity International. He told the Agenda that his aim is to modernize the camping experience so the outdoors can be enjoyed by everyone. “The campground industry’s bones are great, but it hasn’t evolved much in the last 50-70 years,” he said. “So we’re modernizing it with things people have come to expect.” Prices will range from $35 for a basic tent rental to $225 per night for the most luxurious glamping options during peak season. Murphy plans to open the resort in October.
