BRITAIN - Recent research by UK’s Caravan and Motorhome Club and Warners Group Publications revealed a growing interest in campervans throughout the world. Half of new members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club own motorhomes, with around 30,000 piloting campervans. The research dispels the myth that campervans are expensive, with over half of respondents spending less than £20000 ($26K) on their campervan and nearly a third spending under £10000 ($13K). The opportunity for spontaneous travel proved to be an important factor in buying a campervan; campervanners are more likely than other Club members to travel solo (13%), but are also more likely to travel to meet up with friends.
Nick Lomas, Director General of the Caravan and Motorhome Club said in a press release: “The chance to have a real break from the normal day to day routine on a holiday that offers spontaneity and adventure is a key reason why campervans have grown so much in popularity; the freedom to jump in the van and take off at a moment’s notice is very compelling. Many campervanners are hugely proud of their vehicles and develop a real bond with them, even down to giving their van a name.”
