Located about an hour northeast of Dallas in Caddo Mills, Texas, Holiday Road Travel Center provides a perfect stay for RV travelers heading to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex or north-central Texas.
There’s big news afoot - park management recently announced the upcoming grand opening of their new service center and parts store. Groundbreaking took place back in early 2019, so construction has moved quickly.
I spoke with Robby White, Repair Shop General Manager at Holiday Road regarding the new facilities. “Our grand opening for both the repair and parts facilities is slated for July 1st,” he said. Mr. White also noted that opening week is going to be busy with festivities, “On July 6th we’re having a big fireworks party with music and an open house.”
I asked Mr. White what motivated the park’s leadership to consider opening a repair facility. He noted, “I’ve been in the RV business for 15 years. As you know, RV repair work can be difficult. Most shops are 60 to 90 days out. We wanted to get people in and back to camping as quickly as possible.” With that in mind, he added, “We’re going to have five double bays. So, we can work on 10 jobs at a time.”

The repair facility will provide a full range of services for any make or model of RV. Professional mechanics will provide everything from basic maintenance and repair to detailing and even interior remodels. “Our shop manager has 30-years of experience repairing RVs,” White said, adding, “Our Mechanics will all be RVIA trained in nearby Athens, Texas.”
The parts department will carry over 20,000 RV parts and accessories from 450-plus manufacturers. Everything from simple hardware and trim, to items as complex as levelers and electronics, will be available. Customers will be able to buy online, shop from a large in-store inventory, and call ahead to order items that are not regularly on the shelves.
The parts department is just one feature of what Holiday Road is calling their “Superstore” which will not only carry parts and accessories but will also offer lifestyle products like outdoor gear, and house an on-site convenience store for park guests. Their intent is to provide a cross-section of the provisions RV travelers need, whether it’s sundries, camping gear, or a needed repair part. “We wanted to offer something more than a dimly-lit parts department. So, we added lifestyle gear and camping stuff,” Mr. White said. “And, we added convenience items for the people who are staying with us.”
Whether you can make their grand opening festivities or not, if your travels take you near Dallas-Fort Worth, Holiday Road provides a convenient, yet quiet escape from the bustle of the city. There are three stocked fish ponds, nature trails, and lighted picnic pavilions making for a peaceful stay. “A grill, playground, and pool are next up as we continue to grow,” management adds.
As an RV Park first and foremost, the 40-acre park has 89 back-in spaces that are 50-feet deep. Additional pull-through sites are planned. All sites are full-hookup with 20/30/50 amp service. There is park-wide Wi-Fi, and DirecTV is available at select sites. Spaces can be rented nightly, weekly, or monthly. Good Sam member discounts are also offered.
In addition to being convenient for touring downtown, the park is a perfect launch-point for hitting the shopping, dining, and recreational options in places like Allen, Frisco, and McKinney and for water recreation at nearby Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, Lake Lavon, and Lake Tawakoni. The park’s location on U.S. 380 also provides for easy road tripping as far east as Greenville, Texas, and west as far as central New Mexico.
