Must- have winter camping gear will keep you toasty and warm! Winter is in full swing, and most RVers have put their rigs away for the season. However, there are a brave few of us who still have our motorhomes and trailers out and want to enjoy some winter camping.
That said, unless youâre in the southernmost part of the US, RV camping in the winter does require a bit of planning. After all, the weather is not exactly warm and inviting, and keeping yourself comfy and cozy makes the winter camping experience much more pleasant. Fortunately, there are ways to go about this, meaning you absolutely can continue to enjoy camping all year long.
Obviously, things like ensuring you have plenty of propane, packing extra blankets, and putting extra insulation on your windows are all important and helpful. However, these things donât help you stay warm while continuing to enjoy the great outdoors.
What will help with this? Heated accessories, of course!
Below are some awesome heated items that can follow you on your travels and into the outdoors, keeping you toasty warm along the way.
Heated Camping Chair Cover
Keeping your back and bottom warm while sitting around a campfire is definitely a problem. Weâve seen a few different heated camping chairs on the market, but none of them seem to get warm enough, leading to some serious disappointment.
Enter the heated chair cover. For whatever reason, chair covers are much more able to heat up to a reasonable temperature and seem to hold their charge for much longer. This makes them much more helpful in super cold temperatures.
We especially like the Chaheati MAXX Heated Add-On Seat. This cover fits any standard folding chair and heats both the seat and the back. It will offer heat for up to six hours and has three different temperature settings.
There is also a car charger accessory that allows you to charge the battery in a vehicle if you happen to be dry camping with limited battery power.
Fingers tend to be the first things to get cold in chilly weather. Unfortunately, cold hands make it difficult to do much of anything requiring any kind of dexterity. For this reason, you will definitely want to keep some hand warmers around.
Obviously, you could stick to the typical Hot Hands brand of disposable hand warmers. However, these are not very eco-friendly, and purchasing new warmers for every trip could get expensive. Therefore, we recommend looking at one of the reusable options below:
Zippo Hand Warmer â Available in a fuel-filled model or a rechargeable model, the Zippo hand warmer is well made and lasts for years.
Human Creations EnergyFlux Series Rechargeable Wrap-Around Hand Warmer â We love these rechargeable hand warmers because theyâre large and heat on both sides, so you can wrap your hands around them for maximum warmth and comfort.
Savior Heated Gloves with Rechargeable Li-ion Battery â Donât want to deal with figuring out how to secure your hand warmers to your hands while you do other things? These gloves might be the perfect solution.
Of course, if youâre going to keep your hands warm you really should give your feet the same treatment. This is where heated insoles come into play.
Heated insoles come in a range of styles. Some work better than others, some are more durable than others, and some are more comfortable than others. The trick is finding the perfect mix of all three things. We recommend FILBAKE USB-Rechargeable Heated Insoles.
These insoles can be cut to fit your feet perfectly. They are rechargeable, meaning you can use them time and time again, and reach a maximum of 108â (42°C), perfect for keeping feet warm without overheating.
The hand warmers and insoles above will keep you pretty toasty. However, if youâre looking for ways to keep the rest of your body warm, especially if itâs going to be extremely cold, you might want to look into heated clothing.
Yes, you read that right: There are actually many heated clothing items out there, and having these around will ensure youâre never cold while out hiking or sitting around a campfire.
Below are a few of our favorites:
FERNIDA Insulated Heated Underwear â We think these long underwear are pretty nifty. They allow you to wear your usual winter clothes, but provide a bit of extra warmth under all the layers.
Vinmori USB Charging Heated Vest â This heated vest is perfect for keeping the top half of your body nice and toasty while you go about your camping business.
Mobile Warming Heated Pants â Of course, your bottom half deserves to be warm as well. These pants are some of the best on the market, especially if you plan to do any skiing or other winter sports.
Finally, there is the option of a heated travel mug. Drinking a warm beverage on a cold day warms you from the inside out, something no amount of heated clothing can do.
Fortunately, there are plenty of heated mugs on the market, meaning you should never be walking around with a cold coffee or tea while winter camping.
Try one of these options:
Cauldryn Coffee Travel Mug â A bit on the pricey side but worth every penny, this mug has a 10-hour battery life and allows you to choose the temperature of your beverage.
Tech Tools Heated Smart Travel Mug â Looking for something a bit less expensive? The Tech Tools Heated Smart Travel Mug lets you keep control over the temperature of your beverage. Unfortunately, this mug must be plugged in in order to heat liquid, making it more difficult to use while camping.
Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug â This is the most expensive mug on our list. That said, it is also the best. This mug keeps your drink at exactly the right temperature. Itâs sleek, easy to use, easy to wash, and rechargeable.
