Half and Full day Canoe rentals are available at Matanuska Lake! Wildlife & Bird Viewing Our area was once covered by glaciers. As the ice receded it left behind depressions in the ground that filled with water, making the area Lakes swe see today. The lakes and bogs attract a wide variety of Wildlife and make it a natural bird nesting site and stop over for migrating birds.
