Adventurous travelers can snorkel under the lake’s surface and see 22 shipwrecks. In addition, travelers can view all of the beauty of Fathom Five is by climbing the 20 meter tower at the Parks Canada Visitor Center right in town.
The Buzz is greeted by The Shady Dell owner Justin Luria to reminisce on the amazing, colorful history of camping with vintage travel trailers. The Shady Dell Vintage Trailer Court is home to original, vintage trailers from the 40s and 50s, decked out in period-appropriate decor and appliances.
The Buzz interviews Outdoor Education Specialist Amanda Filipi, from the Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area, to discuss what the park can teach people with the abundant wildlife and educational programs. Filipi has been working at Wildcat Hills for nine years, leading groups through outdoor cooking tutorials and helping them spot bighorn sheep.
The Cades Cove Loop takes visitors through the 2,000 acre Cades Cove valley, which is surrounded by the highest peaks of the mountain. “It's spectacular to experience the loop at night,” said Public Information Specialist of Great Smoky Mountains National Park Dana Soehn. “It's a one-of-a-kind experience to see the night skies that are protected by the national park.”
The Buzz speaks with Lead Interpreter at the New Castle Court House Museum, Brain Cannon, about what New Castle residents love about their historically significant town. The first weekend in May marks May Market, a New Castle tradition that brings an expansive collection of flower and plant vendors to the historic town.
Throughout the month of May, local, state, and national parks will be hosting family-friendly activities specifically for children to not only enjoy and discover outdoor recreation, but embrace their role as park stewards. The National Park Trust puts on this event each year and holds the mission to not only preserve parks, but create park stewards for tomorrow.
The Mob Museum, in downtown Las Vegas, offers a bold and authentic view of organized crime from vintage Las Vegas to the back alleys of American cities. New to The Mob Museum, a converted basement is now a 1920s speakeasy, complete with authentic mixed drinks from the time period. There's also a distillery down there, where people can try the museum's own moonshine and beer.
The Buzz speaks with Astronomer David Reitzel to explore the Griffith Observatory and its amazing capabilities. It's located on the southern slope of Mt Hollywood. Reitzel's family was often traveling by RV and they used the telescope at various campsites when he was younger. Griffith Observatory is all about discovery, curiosities, and about understanding how the world works. Reitzel was drawn to this.
The Buzz visits Fire Station 6 in Livermore, California to witness a piece of history that holds the record for the longest-burning light bulb in history. The Centennial Light has been on 24/7 for well over a century and is regarded as the “oldest known working light bulb" by the Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley's Believe It or Not.
Instafire, presented on the Shark Tank by founder Konel Banner, is an environmentally friendly product used for campers, scouts, and more to start instant and clean fires. It floats and burns on water. It burns in 30 mile per hour winds. Made from volcanic rock heated to over 3,000 degrees, Instafire is able to maintain such a strong fire in intense weather and circumstances thanks to its absorbency.
